Hosted the 1st Ashikodai-Elk Grove Village High School Exchange Program, which is a student friendship/language exchange between the two schools. This program has been running every year since 1989. |

Moved into new office building. First time to purchase property rather than lease office space. With this property, ITA also offered leasing and business consulting services to small sales offices of Japanese companies who were just entering the US market and needed low-cost office space as well as guidance in getting established in the US. |

Established CPC Chicago Lab through a license arrangement with CPC Japan, for the manufacture of holograms. Hired first staff member together with Chemistry Printing Co. of Japan, to develop the security hologram market in Japan with original production done in US. |

Began a business venture with Snorkel-Economy to sell their US scissor lifts into the Japanese rental market. Helped to establish a presence for Snorkel, with many product modifications and improvements designed to compete more effectively in the unique and prominent rental industry in Japan. |

Developed new business venture with Sonder Omme Maskinfabrik, a Danish agricultural machinery and lift manufacturer, for sales of boom lifts into Japanese market. First 2 units sold. |

Conducted the first US industrial vendor survey, for the purpose of assisting Japanese transplant factories locate and purchase from American suppliers. This program developed into an annual industry survey coupled with the IPMM (Industrial Parts & Materials Marketplace) trade show, an event sponsored by JETRO Chicago with the goal of increasing local procurement by Japanese factories located in the US. |

Established JapanLink, a new division devoted to creating and hosting bilingual websites for Japanese companies in the U.S. This division has become the fastest-growing business segment for I.T.A. and has expanded into corporate networking and computer services, with a staff of 5 and more than 40 customers throughout the Chicagoland and Midwest area. |

Worked with City of Osaka Office to celebrate the 30-year anniversary of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Chicago (JCCC). Located a US nursery to grow cherry tree seedlings into healthy plants. These 1,000 cherry trees were then given as a gift to the City of Chicago to symbolize the friendship between Osaka City and Chicago. |

Relocated to another office building together with Meiji Corporation. This move provided Meiji with a larger distribution center and allowed ITA to focus in on its core businesses of market research, the introduction of US technologies to Japan, and network consulting. |

A US directional drilling machine manufacturer was purchased by a large multinational with a complex international sales division. ITA's critical role as exporter, technical translator and construction expert was regarded as unnecessary by the multinational. So ITA's operations manager lead a 3-way meeting between the manufacturer, ITA, and the Japanese dealer, resulting in a $1 million per year export deal. |

ITA hired a new team leader for sales, to promote export, research and computer networking businesses. This resulted in dramatic growth in the research and networking areas. |
